Christmas season for everyone in South-Africa means impromptu braai days, laughter, friends, family and lots and lots of food. Whether it's your auntie's biryani or your dad's juicy T-bone steaks; we love feasting in the kitchen, around the pool and at the dinner table- anywhere there is good company and great wine.
I must confess (*blush), as of the beginning of December I’ve been meat-free with only one mishap. A friend of mine bought me lunch, after a particularly rough night, we had our usual @MoruRestaurant and I was halfway through my chicken cordon bleu before I realized I was eating meat (LOL). It was way too tasty not to finish my meal, but I am a beginner after all. I have learned not to be too hard on myself especially during the holidays.
But do not fret meat-lovers, I am here to introduce you to Moru restaurant's delicious festive menu that caters for all. At Boschrand Lodge we accommodate a vast array of diverse guests with various culinary tastes that need to be satisfied. Moru Restaurant has adapted its menu to suit meat-lovers, vegetarians, vegans, halaal and pescatarians. What the guest desires, the amazing staff provides.
Here are just a few tantalizing favorites on the Moru menu, that will make you come back for more!
This variety platter is perfect for a family of four or a group of friends, who want a relaxing bite to eat at lunch before tackling the dreaded Christmas shopping again. You'll receive a fair amount of crispy chicken tenders, mozzarella sticks, crumbed halloumi cubes, onion rings, cocktail cheese grillers, prawn pops, sweet potato chips and potato chips with a sweet chili and ranch dip.
Mustard & Pinotage Rump Steak
For the meat-lovers as promised, our mustard and pinotage rump steak is one of our most popular steaks on the menu. This olive oil and spicy marinade basted rump are flame-grilled to your specification and then served with a dollop of wholegrain mustard and pinotage sauce.
Chicken Cordon Bleu
Want to give your taste buds a true treat? Then try the two breaded chicken fillets, stuffed with ham and mozzarella and drizzled with your choice of mushroom, cheese or pepper sauce.
Moru's vegetarian clients love the halloumi salad, which combines fresh lettuce, tomatoes, feta, olives, and roasted seed mix with melt in your mouth halloumi cubes fried to perfection.
Although they have calamari and pop prawns on the menu, Moru's clients adore the hake immensely. The battered hake fillet is served with tartar sauce and your choice of sides. I prefer combining my hake with a side salad and a portion of chips. Yummy!!
Brand new on our menu is the boldly delicious waffles served with whip cream & ice-cream, topped with a generous amount of salted caramel sauce and chocolate sauce.
If this doesn't inspire you to try out Moru's delicious menu, then nothing will.
Like Devin Ryerson always says:
"You are what you eat. So, don't be fast, cheap, easy or fake."
