Like most fathers, my dad had a knack for telling the most detailed and elaborate stories that kept my brother and me entertained for hours. His absurd and cringe-worthy dad jokes were no different. A little less than a decade ago my father lost control of his speech due to CVA (Stroke) and I still regret taking something as insignificant as the sound of my father's voice for granted. It was like losing a gift I never knew I possessed and being violently shaken by the thought of never owning it again.

Sonora was in awe of her father's ability to raise six children by himself, whilst caring for a newborn and mourning the loss of his beloved spouse. With the help of the YMCA, Sonora's dream of establishing an annual Father's day celebration came true.
